The department views consulting as an opportunity for faculty to come up with new ideas, develop new insights for practitioners, and extend research skills for solving challenging real-world managerial problems. Consulting greatly contributes to the development of state-of-the-art content for teaching of MBA and Executive programmes. Besides, it is perceived as a potential source of new research ideas which enhances the quality of faculty research in terms of its usability for the industry. Since the institute has been established with a view to not only providing trained manpower to the energy industry but also acting as a bridge between fundamental research and industry requirements, consulting is given significant importance. Consulting in the energy domain is the strength of the department but faculty has the freedom to take up projects from other sectors too. The faculty members of the department have significant consulting and research experience. The department has adequate facilities in terms of latest application software packages for mathematical modelling, simulation, statistical modelling, and data mining.
