1. DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES
The primary objective of Department of Management Studies (DoMS) is to create a cadre of human resource with necessary skills, domain expertise, and competencies to manage the key positions in various segments of corporate world and energy sector.
The areas of focus of the department are:
- ⚫ Energy Management
- ⚫ Financial Management
- ⚫ Marketing Management
- ⚫ Human Resources Management
- ⚫ Operations Management
Department of Management Studies, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) offers two separate 2-year full-time programmes: MBA and MBA (Data Analytics). The programmes are designed to facilitate students in understanding, developing, integrating and applying knowledge of both core and specialized areas of management and their concepts and practices in the field of management, data sciences and energy domain.
MBA: The focus of this programme is to impart extensive exposure in various areas of specialization (Energy, Marketing, Finance, HR and Operations) through electives, thereby providing a wide array of career and entrepreneurship opportunities.
MBA (Data Analytics): This is a multi-disciplinary programme which intends to prepare students with analytical tools, techniques, and methodologies so that they can face the challenges of ever-increasing complicacy of data-driven business world.
2. MBA ADMISSION PROCESS
2.1. Eligibility
MBA:
-- A candidate must hold a minimum 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 10th.
-- A candidate must hold a minimum 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 12th.
-- Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree recognized by the AICTE/UGC/Institute/University incorporated by Act of Parliament/State legislature, university declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD).
MBA (Data Analytics):
-- A candidate must hold a minimum 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 10th.
-- A candidate must hold a minimum 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 12th.
-- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology ‘OR’ must hold a Bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as B.Sc./B.Com./BCA/B.A. (Mathematics/Statistics) recognized by the AICTE/UGC/Institute/University incorporated by Act of Parliament/State legislature, university declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD).
Candidates meeting the above eligibility criteria and have a valid score of any of these examinations: Common Admission Test (CAT-2020) conducted by IIMs/Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT-2021)/ CMAT-2021 (conducted by AICTE)/ GMAT 2020/2021 are eligible to apply. Candidate appearing for final year examination of programme are also eligible to apply based on the following conditions:
a. Such candidate must produce a certificate from the authority of the university/institution certifying that:
(i) The candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent based on latest available grades/marks (i.e. all the years’ grade/marks except the final year grade/marks), and
(ii) The candidate has completed all the requirements and has appeared for the examinations/practical etc. for the final year/semester/term and that the result is awaited for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification. Such candidates, if selected, should submit the final year mark sheet and certificate on the registration date notified by the Institute [02 August 2021(tentative)].
b. Non-fulfilment of the above conditions will result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.
2.2. Selection Procedure

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for Online Personal Interview (PI). |
The final selection of candidates will be based on total weighted cumulative score (A+B) out of a maximum score of 100 (one hundred).
The information about the selected and waitlisted candidates will be available on the RGIPT website on the given date. Selected candidates are required to make payment of fees as notified by Institute to secure the admission. In case any candidate fails to deposit the required fee within the stipulated time period (without prior permission from MBA Admission Office) then the offer stands withdrawn.
The final list of admitted candidates will be uploaded on the RGIPT website before the commencement of the programme. If at any stage, the information provided by a candidate is found to be false his candidature/admission shall be cancelled.
3. Company Sponsored & Part-Time Candidates
3.1. Company Sponsored Candidates
Companies may also sponsor their employees for the above mentioned MBA programme.
-- The basic eligibility criteria mentioned under Section 2.1 are same for sponsored candidates, but they are exempt from CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT.
-- Sponsored candidates should have worked full-time continuously for at least two years in the sponsoring organization at the time of applying for admission at DoMS, RGIPT.
-- The company/organization will offer continuity of job and salary to the sponsored candidate for entire duration of the program.
-- The candidates must have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience in responsible capacity in a Registered Firm/Company/Industry/Educational and Research Institution/Govt./Quasi Govt./Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought.
-- The Firm/Company/Industry shall either be a public sector undertaking or a public limited company registered in a stock exchange or a private concern whose annual turnover during the past two years exceeds Rs.5 crores.
-- Sponsored candidates are not entitled for any financial assistance from RGIPT.
3.2. Part-Time Registration Category
The Institute offers professionally employed persons to pursue the MBA Programme under part-time category while continuing the duties of his/her service provided the sponsoring institution/organization is located within a distance of 50 km from the Institute. The candidate must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization/institution for at least two years. No objection certificate from the Head of the Institution /organization must be enclosed with the application (See Form VI of the Application form). The basic eligibility criteria mentioned under Section 2.1 are same for Part time candidates, but they are exempt from CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT.
[N.B.: Letter of appointment and Form VI issued by the employer for two years of service is required at the time of written test/interview. In addition, the candidate must submit an undertaking that he/she shall continue to submit Form VI for the subsequent years till he/she completes the programme.]
3.3. Admission Procedure
Sponsored and Part-Time candidates should produce recommendation letter, no-objection certificate and leave approval for the duration of the programme, from the employer.

4. Online Application Process
-- Eligible candidates should apply Online for admission by filling up online application form given on RGIPT website www.domsrgipt.ac.in. The instructions are provided on the same to fill up the form.
-- A non-refundable application fee of Rs.400/- (Rs.200/- for SC/ST candidates) to be paid online by the applicant.
-- Candidates MUST use their personal Phone number and Email Id for registration.
-- Please ensure that all information provided is correct and accurate.
-- You will be able take the printout of your filled-in application form only after successful submission inclusive of payment made through payment gateway. We urge you to save a copy of your submitted application to some location on your computer or any data storage device for your future reference.
-- Incomplete application forms and forms received after the due date will not be considered for admission process.
-- The last date of submission of online application is Monday, 14th March, 2021 (5.00 PM).
-- If at any stage, the information provided by a candidate is found to be false, his candidature/admission shall be cancelled.
5. Online Personal Interview
Candidates shall be invited for appearing on Online Personal Interview (PI) as per the specified timeline of the institute.
Important Information
The candidates must bring the following documents in original and a set of self-attested photocopies for verification at the time admission:
- a. Copy of Call Letter for PI
- b. CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT Admit Card
- c. CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT Score Card
- d. Class X Certificate and Mark Sheets/Grade Sheets
- e. Class XII Certificate and Mark Sheets/Grade Sheets
- f. Graduation Certificate and Mark Sheets/Grade Sheets (till the final year/semester/term)
- g. In case of grade sheets/CGPA/CPI, applicants should bring a copy of grade to percentage conversion certificate if issued by the Board/Council/Institute/ University.
- h. Work Experience Certificate, if any
- i. SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS Certificate (as per central list) as applicable
- j. Valid PwD certificates
- k. The sponsored/part-time candidates need to produce “Sponsorship Certificate” & “Employer Consent”

In addition, all students will pay mess advance of Rs 20000.00 per semester at the beginning of the semester, which will be adjusted towards actual bills at the end of each academic year.
7. Hostel
The programme is fully residential and students are required to stay in hostel on the campus for the entire duration of the course.
8. Reservations and Seat Allocation
Reservation policy as per the Government of India’s directives will be applicable. Seat allocation to the various categories (SC, ST, OBC, General and EWS) is in accordance with the Government rules.
All SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates are required to submit certificate in respect of their claims from the authorized officers as notified by the Government for the purpose from time to time.
The PwD candidates are required to submit a certificate from authorized Medical Doctors/Hospitals indicating the extent of physical disability. The percentage of disability is duly verified by the Chief Medical Officer/Medical Board of the Institute before the benefit is extended to the candidate.

Applications received by 5.00 PM, 14th March 2021 shall be processed first. All applications received after 14th March 2021 will be considered in the second and subsequent round subject to vacancies.
The admission portal of MBA Admission 2021 will be closed on 31st March 2021, 5.00 PM. The detail admission timeline of the second and subsequent round shall be announced separately.
